Mushroom Sauce Recipe for Vanessa!

Vanessa’s mushroom sauce recipe

for V to match with her yummy steaks tonight!

200gm button mushroom, sliced
4 cloves of garlic, minced
1 onion, diced
2 sprigs of thyme, leaves only
3 tablespoons butter
1 cup cream
Salt and pepper

  1. fry onion in the butter until fragrant
  2. add garlic and mushrooms and fry until all the liquid from the mushrooms have evaporated
  3. add salt, pepper, thyme and cream and stir to incorporate.
  4. remove from heat when simmering and keep warm to serve with steaks.

Tekka Market Tour

We love shopping at our local markets. Long before we started Cookyn with Mervyn, we already loved spending a morning in the markets, walking around, checking out the freshest produce and watching housewives swarming around their favourite stalls, buying ingredients with such familiarity and then rushing home to prepare breakfast before the family wakes up. There is such a buzz!

Cooking Schools in Singapore?

Many people have asked us how we think we are different from the other cooking schools in Singapore. Truth is, we don’t and can’t compare ourselves with them. There are many great cooking schools out there and we are still newbies in the market so we are really learning along the way, seeing what works, what our participants want and how we can best provide it.

It’s been 7 months since we started out at our Novena studio and it’s been amazing. The business has grown beyond what we expected, we never imagined we’d be doing the number of corporate groups that we are running nowadays. Feedback is that we are very casual, unintimidating and great for teambuilding. Because of the nature of our set-up, everyone has no choice but to work together if they want to eat, so add a little wine to the mix and you can’t help but have a great time together. :) Love it!

We also love the fact that we are making so many new friends, people who we would have never met without Cookyn with Mervyn. Sure beats the socks off a day job anytime!

The start of February was a little quieter because everyone was fulfilling family commitments with CNY around the corner but bookings after CNY are looking much better, right into March.

And March is going to be beyond exciting, we have so many new things to be announced, we can’t help bouncing up and down ourselves! :)
