A nifty new idea to get you cookyn!

Attended one of our parties and wanted to recreate the recipe but found it too troublesome to go around Singapore shopping for the ingredients? Have a group of friends coming over and need some food ideas? Know a friend who would be excited to receive a box of mystery ingredients and start cooking?
Then a Box of Gourmet Surprises is just what you are looking for!
Pick a recipe from our library and let us know how many people you would like to cook for. We will shop for you, pack it into a cute box and you can pick it up from the studio at Novena or have it delivered to your home. Now it is that much easier to get cookyn! :)

Wow. Tonight we had an unprecedented influx of people who came by the website to book a slot for themselves in one of ieatishootipost’s famous makan sessions. We are delighted to work with Dr Leslie to bring our knowledge and experience of beef to more people out there.
Mervyn worked for 5 years in a gourmet food company and took a great interest in learning about beef and tasting firsthand what the differences between different types of beef are, and what goes behind the entire beef industry around the world.
We have run this beef appreciation class a number of times before but certainly none has filled up so quickly. We sold out 50 places in half an hour after the announcement was made. Dr Leslie told us to standby for the registrations but we didn’t expect it would be THAT quick!
Looks like we have to start planning the next session!

It might be a tad too early for alcohol at 10.30am in the morning; but at Cookyn with Mervyn, it isn’t. While others might be still snug under the comfort of their sheets, we were measuring and mixing our very own lime and strawberry margaritas! Once everyone had a drink in hand, we were ready to proceed on to fill our tummies!

It wasn’t before long that the aroma of the Chilli Con Carne filled the room and we dug into the sauce with nachos. Totally love the smokey flavour that Mervyn imparted to the chili con carne with the use of a few different spices. For those who aren’t chilli fans, don’t fret! We also made chunky tomato salsa and rich homemade guacamole to pair with our nachos.

These set our stomachs wanting more food and we stood in anticipation for the grilled beef to be done. We learnt many steak grilling tips along the way, after which Mervyn got volunteers to slice through the grilled beef, revealing a beautifully pink hue of meat. Each slice was tender and and juicy. We also learnt tips from Mervyn about how to test the doneness of the beef, interesting!

We had a lot of fun making our dessert! Each of us tossed and turned our own crepe, hoping that it would turn out beautifully golden and not break! All went well thanks to Mervyn’s crepe recipe and it was such a fun experience for all of us. Topped off with freshly made caramalized apples and a scoop of ice cream, the chatter continued with more margaritas and new found friends made.
