We will be doing a session of creative Chinese New Year treats at the Tangs Kitchen Vivocity on 5th February (Friday), looking forward to that!

On the menu:
1. Bak Kwa and Fresh Shitake Mushroom Quiche
2. Sashimi Lo Hei (chunks of fresh sashimi but with the traditional CNY lo-hei greetings)
3. Cashew nut and Caramel Semi-freddo (like an ice-cream)

That will run at an affordable $80 and will be run in a hands-on fashion where everyone takes part in the preparation. If you are keen to do a CNY menu but not sure if you can spare the time over the actual CNY period, then this is the session for you! :)

Preparation of chicken

1. Salt and Pepper all over the surface of a chicken, including inside the cavity of the bird.
2. Let the bird dry under a fan for 1 hour to dry the skin
3. Stuff the cavity with some onion and garlic
4. Rub some oil on the chicken before roasting for 180 degrees celcius for 1 hour
5. Allow to rest for 20 mins before carving. Best to carve only upon serving.

Preparation of sauce

1. Heat 2 tablespoons of light soya sauce, 1 tablespoon dark soya sauce, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon sesame seed oil and 1/2 cup chicken stock.
2. Mix and drizzle over chicken
3. Serve

We will be cooking at The Kitchen at Tangs Vivocity come January 19! Really looking forward to having a bit of fun in a new environment. The kitchen is snazzy! :)

We will be doing a Japanese sushi rolling session, together with the crowd-favourite home smoked salmon fillet and finishing off with a fun mochi ice cream. Our session will be full hands-on and everyone gets a sizeable portion of food to bring home or eat. :)
