Milestones: First Media Mention

Cookyn with Mervyn was featured in The New Paper and Sunday Times last week. It was a feature of people who live their passions and make it their livelihood. Whee!

This has certainly been a very exciting time for us, putting effort into something that we believe so strongly in and seeing results from the hard work that we have put in. We’ve had such encouraging response so far and we are amazed by how people are so supportive of what we do.

Thank God we continue to have fun even as we work, it’s like having a party (or more) every week! If you haven’t already joined our parties, do join us for one so we can get to know you!! :)

Preparation for Spanish Party

We’re in the midst of the preparation for this 2 weeks’ Spanish cookyn parties! That included a visit to the local market to pick up some nice fresh seafood before firing up the stove to create the paella and other dishes. The studio was filled with delicious aromas!!

Wild Spot Prawns

Have you tasted the Wild Spot Prawn? Naturally pink in color, these prawns are wild-caught from the sea, not farmed. Hence, they have a firm crunchy texture and a sweet fresh flavour. Also known as Botan Ebi in good Japanese restaurants.

Good eaten as sashimi or lightly grilled.

To be featured in the Spanish Flamboyant Fun Party. Limited seats. Book here now!

Also available for sale at Greengrocer.com.sg!

Imperial Treasure Great World City

It is always a pleasure for us to eat at Imperial Treasure GWC. The quality of food and cooking is impressive and never fails to impress.

Worthy of mention is the roast pork, or shao rou which melt-in-the-mouth tender and bursting with flavour. The crackling is perfect and we have been told that many steps are involved in creating a crackling as crispy as this. Well thank God for patient chefs, if not for them, we would not be able to have a roast pork as delectable as this. ($8 a plate)

Also equally delicious is the BBQ pork pastry, or char shao su ($3.30 for a plate of 3). The pastry enveloping the sweet morsels of char siew is the most buttery and flaky pastry we have ever tasted. It is a perfect char shao su! As are the egg tarts ($3 for a plate of 3). The same buttery pastry and very smooth soft egg custard make them such a delight to eat.

If you decide to pay the restaurant a visit, do ask for an item not on their menu – oyster fried in salted egg yolk and wrapped with a lettuce leaf. Amazingly great.

A restaurant that serves, to us, close to the best Chinese food in Singapore at fairly affordable prices – this is one restaurant not to be missed!!
